house no. 507

The existing kitchen had limited storage and work surfaces and was also dark and poorly connected to the back yard via a small window and door. The aim of this project was to significantly expand the functionality of the original kitchen while also creating a social space that extended into the backyard, enhancing the interior space with abundant light and views to the outside. The large window is an interpretation of the bay windows typical of the front of houses in this area but its size, transparency and built-in bench, inside the kitchen, seek to foster family collectivity and socializing. It also expands the physical space of the compact kitchen. A second phase will implement landscaping, fully extending the kitchen to the end of the property.
