house no. 383

This is a house project on the site of an existing house on an open site where the footprint was retained. The original design of the client was to have a single flat roof. This scheme - one of 8 - explored the use of a slightly articulated roofscape to improve the light quality of the space, subtly differentiate the spaces and to take advantage of the gorgeous views of the site.
Overlooking the St.Lawrence river, the site slopes south towards water and the continuous flow of water moving east towards the ocean.
